Ixworth Court is a purpose built home providing care to 22
frail elderly residents. The philosophy of the home is very much
person centred, recognising each resident as an individual with a
past, present and future.
The home is situated in a small village which has many
amenities, one being the G.P. surgery next door to the home.
Ixworth Court's neighbours are The Courtyard which is a home for
younger people (under the age of 65) with dementia and Blackbourne
View, a very sheltered housing scheme for older people, both are
managed by Orwell Housing Association.
The home is divided into 4 individual units each with a sitting
room and kitchenette, one of the units provides extra care for
people with dementia and another unit has 2 bedrooms which are
reserved for people requiring respite care.
We have our own gardens here for residents to use and enjoy and
residents are welcome to assist the gardener/handyman in helping to
maintain them.
At Ixworth Court we provide a range of activities tailored to
meet the residents' interests and for enjoyment. These include film
afternoons, singalongs, bingo or quiz sessions, cooking, arts and
crafts which take place either in the large 'club room' or on the
units. We also have access to a mini-bus for outings to local
places of interest. We like to feel part of the community and
invite children from the local primary school to come and visit. We
also have good links with the church and have a service at Ixworth
Court and support residents who wish to continue to go to church.
There is a hairdressing salon and the hairdresser visits weekly and
also offer chiropody and optician service.
