Hawthorn Drive offers high standards of residential care for 29 frail older people.  Purpose built in 1966 and then extensively refurbished in 1995, all rooms but two have en suite facilities. 

The assistance/emergency call system is accessible from every room and television aerial socket and telephone point are also available.

The home is divided into three living units, one on the first floor – caring for  residents with special needs and two on the ground floor – caring for mainstream frail residents any of these places can be used for respite when appropriate.  Each unit has its own style and charm with kitchen dinner, lounge, bathrooms with power assisted chairs and shower facilities.The home also has a well equipped Coffee Shop, Conference Room, Smoking Room and a quite lounge for reading or quite time.
We also have a Day Centre that provides 15 places daily from Monday to Friday including a specialised needs day on a Monday.

A large, fenced pleasant garden, aiding sensory stimulation with two water features, fragrant plants, wind chimes and bright flowers.  There are four ways to access the garden, which is private and secure for residents, staff and visitors.

There is a choice of menu for all meals, either prepared on the unit by carers or prepared in the main kitchen and then taken to units on hot trolleys.  Special diets are happily catered for. 

The home has a daily programme of stimulating activities coordinated by a team of well-trained and dedicated carer staff.  Daily activities are tailored to meet individual needs and choices but some group activities/outings and entertainment is also facilitated.  A hairdressing saloon is available on sight operating once a week at competitive prices.

218 Hawthorn Drive is located in South Ipswich and is approximately three miles from the town centre and is easily accessible by local buses.  There are a variety of local shops within walking distance including a chemist, bakery, fish and chip shop, newsagent, florist and supermarket, as well as a post office, bank, church and library all close by.
