Bury St Edmunds - Davers Court

Davers Court is situated in the town of Bury St Edmunds, a few minutes walk from the historic Abbey gardens and town centre.

Our accommodation is of a high standard and specifically meets the needs of older people.   It is divided into units, varying between 3 and 9 bedrooms,  each has its own en suite facility with shower.   The rooms also have television and telephone points.

Each unit has a lounge, dining area, fully fitted kitchen and especially adapted bathrooms and toilets.   Safety features, such as smoke detectors and an emergency call system is accessible from every room.

The units:

Rosewood is a 9-place unit offering permanent care to frail older people.

Pinewood and Rowanwood:- 15 rooms
These are our special needs units, individuals admitted here have a diagnosis of dementia, made by a psycho-geriatrician with the recommendation for an extra care placement.

Sandlewood has 4 rooms, this is a transitional unit.    Service users are admitted from hospital and are awaiting their preferred/assessed outcome.

Barnum is a rehabilitation unit consisting of 6 rooms, the purpose of this unit is to assist individuals in reaching their full potential following an illness/operation.   A six week programme is worked out with each person with the support of, a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker and the unit staff.  We work closely with the West Suffolk Primary Care Trust.

Dedicated trained staff provide 24hr care to the service users in a professional and dignified manner.

Service users are assisted in exercising their choice in all aspects of their care.   We encourage a full and active lifestyle as is possible, maintaining links with the community, family and friends.

There is an extensive choice of menu for the two main meals, which are prepared in the main kitchen.   Meals are also prepared in the unit kitchenettes.

The home offers a fully fitted hairdressing salon, a small shop, and a mobile telephone for use by the residents.

There are regular programmes of activities, including church service and outings.

The courtyard gardens are wheelchair accessible with tables and chairs provided.
