Re-registration of your
child's birth if your circumstances have changed.
What is Re-registration?
There are two forms of re-registration. One is a legal
requirement and one is not.
Perhaps you have married the father of your baby? Your child's
birth entry needs to be changed to reflect the fact that you have
married each other. This is a legal requirement.
Or perhaps the father's details were not included on the
original birth entry and you would now both like them to be? There
may be other circumstances when the fathers' details need to be
added to the birth entry. Please contact your local Register Office
for advice or email
enquiries@registrars.suffolkcc.gov.uk.
If any of these apply to you, then you need to arrange for your
child to be re-registered.

My child already has its father's surname - Do I still need to
Re-register
It does not matter what name your child uses - there are other
areas of the birth entry which will need to be changed now that you
are married.

Is there any charge for this?
No, there is no charge unless you would like a full replacement
birth certificate, in which case these are charged at £3.50
each.
